When a judge orders a person not to drink alcohol, they better pay attention. Carla Elaine Bartholomew found this out when a judge had her arrested for drinking in her own home. After three convictions for drunk driving, Bartholomew was instructed to not consume any alcohol. It was, in fact, a condition of her probation.

According to reports, Bartholomew’s home was searched by probation officers on November 25. Officials found her to be intoxicated, and she admitted to such on December 8. Judge Thomas Zeff found Bartholomew to be in violation of her probation and imposed a three-year sentence behind bars.

Bartholomew was involved in an accident on March 11 at Bodem Street and Scenic Drive. She was found to be the party at fault in the accident in which two people were injured. Her blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was at 0.15, close to twice the legal limit.

At that time, Bartholomew was charged with DUI causing injury, a felony. She pled no contest to that charge and, at that time, admitted to having had two prior DUI convictions. She was ordered by Judge Zeff to serve five years of probation. Part of that probation was an order to not consume alcohol. She was also sentenced to a year in the county jail.

Bartholomew served 185 days of that sentence, including 92 days of credit for good behavior.

At this point, Bartholomew will be spending the next three years of her life in prison. Whether or not her attorneys will be able to get the sentenced reduced remains to be seen.
